Within just a few hours of its launch, Threads, the rival app to Twitter developed by Meta (Facebook's parent company), has already attracted over 10 million sign-ups, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. This marks a significant challenge to Elon Musk's Twitter, which has faced competition from various contenders but has yet to be replaced as a leading social media platform.

Threads went live on both Apple and Android app stores in 100 countries, initially running without ads. Notable celebrities and media outlets, including Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, The Washington Post, and The Economist, already have active accounts on the platform. Zuckerberg engaged with new users during the launch, including offering playful banter with MMA fighter Jon Jones. In a veiled reference to Musk, Zuckerberg shared a Spiderman meme, highlighting the similarities between the two platforms.

Expressing his vision, Zuckerberg stated his desire for a public conversation's app with over 1 billion users, believing that Twitter hasn't yet fully achieved this goal. Twitter currently boasts over 200 million daily users.
